The Z v.7 is the next evolution of Sundown's ultra-high excursion monsters, sitting proudly as the third step up in Sundown Audio's 2025 lineup, right above the M and X v.4 series. This isn't a mild upgrade. This is a full-send redesign built for people who want real low bass, real power handling, and real reliability.

Available in 12", 15", and 18", every Z v.7 is built on Sundown's custom-tooled, patented Mega-Platform frame system (US Patents D691597, D691598, D741841). These frames are engineered specifically for extreme excursion and structural strength. Due to the sheer size of the motor, 10" versions are not offered except by special order.

At the heart of the Z v.7 is the largest motor Sundown has ever put on a Z-Series subwoofer. A quad-stacked 265mm (10.43") diameter motor with a 100mm (3.94") magnet stack height, paired with a hyper-extended pole and massive clearances. The result is over 4 inches of peak-to-peak mechanical travel before bottoming. In real-world terms, this woofer just keeps moving. Motor force factor is approximately 50% higher than the previous Z v.6, which means more control, more output, and more authority at extreme excursion.

Driving that motor is a 3.3" 4-layer round wire aluminum voice coil, wound on a thick aluminum former. Sundown's custom fat-wire winding method allows this coil to soak up serious power and punishment without giving up linearity or reliability. This platform was built to take abuse, not just survive dyno sheets.

Cooling has been pushed even further. The Z v.7 features a brand-new, patent-pending airflow-directing pole cap, combined with six pole OD channels, sixteen gap vents, and a cross-drilled, slotted top plate. This airflow system keeps the voice coil dramatically cooler during long demos, daily driving, or competition-level power.

The motor also incorporates a 9mm thick magnet ID Faraday ring, locked into both the top and back plates, paired with an all-new pole-extension inductance sleeve. This combination delivers the most linear inductive performance of any Mega-Platform subwoofer Sundown has produced, keeping distortion low even at extreme excursion.

And yes, it digs. The Z v.7 achieves 42mm of one-way linear excursion at 70% BL, with an exceptionally smooth curve thanks to extensive FEA optimization and a massive 95mm long voice coil winding length.

The end result is a subwoofer engineered from the ground up to dominate the low-frequency, small ported enclosure category. It drops stupid-low, stays clean, and works in the same proven enclosure designs used for other Sundown Mega-Platform subs. This is not a sealed-box woofer. This is a ported box weapon.
